November 2010

Early November we had a very nice visit from Mimi and Pop.  The kids just adore them.  Amelia ropes anyone she can into reading to her and Alex will ask twenty times a day – Pop, come and get me??  We also had a visit from my Dad’s cousin Tom and his wife Nancy.  It was so wonderful from them to finally get to meet the kids and for all of us to catch up.  The kids are doing great.  They are talking more and more.  It is so funny to listen to their little conversations.  They both love to sing and know their ABC song pretty well.  They can also both count to 15 I believe.  They play tons together but just at much fit.  I have already caught them wrestling.  Isn’t it a little early for that!?!?!  Kids will be kids I suppose…

Horse Riding

We are lucky because Fort Gordon has a decent sized horse stable.  Its farther out in the ‘country-side’ of post so its enclosed in a wooded area.  We have been up their numerous times to visit the parks they have there.  The area actually has 3 separate jungle gym/parks located right next to each other which the kids always enjoy.  They whole area is quite nice because of being wooded there is lots of shade which is awesome around here where the sun is almost always out.  Anyway, we recently found out that the kids could ride ponies for 1/2 an hour for a total of $11 all together including the helmet rental.  So we figured it was totally worth a try and it was a massive success!  They kids had such a blast.  Amelia, in true girl fashion, couldn’t stop talking the ENTIRE 30 minutes.  It was so very cute.  She talked about the horse, and they things she saw and a whoaaa here and there if a misstep were to occur.  Alex was a little quieter but had a smile plaster on his face during his ride.  Dan said he spent most of his time trying to follow the path arrows directing Dan ‘yeft’ or right.  Needless to say we will make sure to do this again several times before we leave next summer!

Painting Pumpkins

Obviously, the kids are too young to carve pumpkins and the absolutely love to paint so we decided that we would paint pumpkins this year.  I can tell you they had a really awesome time.  They even covered the paper I laid out after they were finished with the pumpkins.
