End of October 2009

October is coming to a close at the end of the week and its another month down on our journey away from Dan. Just under 4 months now until we see him for R&R and we wish we could propel time forward to that day. Until then, we are trying to keep busy and have fun. As seen earlier Dan's mom visited and last week we had my brother (uncle Dan) visiting with is girlfriend Jodi. I have to say, Dan (uncle) has some competition b/c Alex seemed to adore her. He even asked to sit next to her at dinner one night and for you those of you who know Alex, you know it is a big deal. Jodi left us after a week, but Dan (uncle) is still with us for one more and both of the kids are enjoying his company. Alex, especially - go figure, enjoys putting on a show.

Uncle Stephen visits most weekends, and again, Alex likes following him around and having Stephen take him out on his tractor. Alex is doing much better on his speech. He know has more words than I can type out before it bores you all. So that is great news, even better he is offering some words spontaneously (without hearing them first or being asked) and that is a huge step for him, so that makes me very happy.

Not a whole lot to say about Amelia. She has been struggling with an ear infection for a while now and is now on her second round of antibiotics, but besides having trouble sleeping and the occasional cranky spout you wouldn't even know she was sick. She isn't really talking a whole lot - hi and dog are really her only words for the moment.

At this point we are looking forward to going to Disney World for Thanksgiving :o)

Don't worry the bottle is sealed. She found it going through the pantry one evening - her favorite place to play. Interestingly enough, no one has a clue where she found it in there b/c that is certainly not where the liquor is kept. Regardless, it made for some funny pics, especially considering the hair in her eyes (not normal, its usually back) makes her look a little tipsy ;o)

Grammy Visits

We had a wonderful visit from Grammy for a few days in Mid-October. Unfortunately, the weather was horrible - cold, rainy, and even some snow (nothing that stuck of course) so all of our plans to go to the Zoo and Timbertown where out the door. Instead we went clothes shopping, toy shopping, and the farmers market. We all think that Grammy had a great time and as in true Grandma fashion spoiled us rotten - which is always nice ;o)

Beginning October 2009

Things are still going pretty well here. The kids are happy and well-adjusted. Alex is in speech therapy twice a week now, once at home and once at a pediatric therapy center. He is finally making real progress - he has about 25 words now! He still has a long way to go, but its good real progress so that makes me very happy. Amelia has gotten quite smart and has caught on to her brother's antics. She has gotten quite speedy too! They both are growing like weeds Alex at 38.5" and 28.5 lbs and Amelia 31.5" and 21lbs.

They are truly starting to play together. Sometimes nice, sometimes not so nice. They can be super sweet to each other - trading toys, giving kisses, swapping drinks. And other times there are fights and screaming matches - oh so lovely. But the worst is they have started getting into trouble together. Not something I imagined happening so soon. Alex has even gotten Amelia to do things he knows are off limits just to see my reaction when I can her doing them. Boy am I in trouble.

The water table is fun even w/out water apparently

Of course you can't get them to smile in the same picture
