Horse Riding

We are lucky because Fort Gordon has a decent sized horse stable.  Its farther out in the ‘country-side’ of post so its enclosed in a wooded area.  We have been up their numerous times to visit the parks they have there.  The area actually has 3 separate jungle gym/parks located right next to each other which the kids always enjoy.  They whole area is quite nice because of being wooded there is lots of shade which is awesome around here where the sun is almost always out.  Anyway, we recently found out that the kids could ride ponies for 1/2 an hour for a total of $11 all together including the helmet rental.  So we figured it was totally worth a try and it was a massive success!  They kids had such a blast.  Amelia, in true girl fashion, couldn’t stop talking the ENTIRE 30 minutes.  It was so very cute.  She talked about the horse, and they things she saw and a whoaaa here and there if a misstep were to occur.  Alex was a little quieter but had a smile plaster on his face during his ride.  Dan said he spent most of his time trying to follow the path arrows directing Dan ‘yeft’ or right.  Needless to say we will make sure to do this again several times before we leave next summer!

Painting Pumpkins

Obviously, the kids are too young to carve pumpkins and the absolutely love to paint so we decided that we would paint pumpkins this year.  I can tell you they had a really awesome time.  They even covered the paper I laid out after they were finished with the pumpkins.

Alex even painted his stem – he was going for an all blue look, but after Amelia mixed up all of the paints his kinda came out camo-colored

Hilton Head Island

We were able to make our first ever family vacation to Hilton Head Island, SC with great great thanks to my parents! We were only able to go for 3 days but made the most of every minute. We all had a blast. The kids loved every last second with the exception of the ocean. The both got in, lasted about 2 minutes then refused to go back anywhere near it for the remainder of our visit. Still the absolutely loved playing in the sand, especially Alex. We have been back for 3 days now and Alex is still asking to go back to our room aka the hotel bc he knows the beach is there. I probably would have taken even more pictures but I started in with a cold on the way down and didn't feel like lugging the camera everywhere after the first day....
