July 4th Weekend

We were lucky enough over July 4th weekend to have Aunt Sarah visit!  The kids had such a blast with a new playmate and she is super fun to hang out with.  The kids had their first experience with poppers and sparklers.  Alex was really good with the poppers, Amelia not too much.  They were both hesitant about the sparklers but really got into them after a while.  Also, Dan convinced me to take them to the fireworks for their first time and they absolutely loved it.  There was lots of oohs, aahs, mommy look!   daddy look!  Amelia still mentions occasionally that “fireworks to boom.”  Amelia the linguest she is says “oh mommy, they are sooooo beautiful,” complete with a sigh.

Riverbanks Zoo, again

Being there is a zoo so close and affordable we had to go one more time before the move. The kids really love animals. There favorite part this time was trying to climb all of the animal statues throughout the park.

How fitting, monkeys on a monkey

this was SO neat – you could pay $1 for cup of nectar to feed the birds, that was really neat

June 2011–Alex’s Birthday

This month our little boy turned 4. He is growing up so fast! He is very physically oriented. He loves to kick balls, ride bikes and scooters. He can hit a ball of off a tee with alarming accuracy. He knows his ABC’s, his name and the name of his family members. He can count to 15. Alex can be super sweet with Amelia when he wants to be. If she is getting yelled at or scolded, he will chime in and try and protect her saying “you don’t yell at my sister!” Alex is still very focused on all things little boy especially pirates. He also likes anything with wheels or a motor, dinosaurs and animals. I just updated his widget on the blog and realized the 5 years old he is working toward. I really can’t believe that his getting that old *sniffle sniffle*

So, we had a severe thunderstorm one night, the result of which was our neighbor’s trampoline jumping their fence, flipping multiple times, taking our our satellite and ultimately landing smack in the middle of our yard, upside down none the less. It looked like space ship.
