So we finally seem to be nearing the end of the deployment. Less than 3 months to go and we are very excited to see Daddy again. We will be moving back down to Georgia for 1 year, followed by 2 years of grad school (where is yet to be determined), then 3 years at West Point Military Academy where Dan will head up IT in the admissions department. Dan is at the end of his command and we couldn't be prouder of him. In our opinion (totally unbiased we swear) he has done a darn fine job and are very proud in how he was able to balance family and work. Though, we will say we will not miss the work phone ringing constantly!
Alex is nearing his 3rd birthday. His speech is improving daily and his therapist are astonished with the progress he has made in such a short time. Honestly, they did not expect him to be doing this well so soon. He has a daily expanding vocabulary and is consistently speaking in 6+ word sentences. This month we also tackled potty training. All in all while frustrating for me he seemed to take to it well. His only problem is that he hates to stop what he is doing to go... Also, he has started growling, and it is multi-purpose. He does it when he is nervous (such as to a stranger), he does it instead of telling me no he doesn't want to do something, and finally he does it when he is mad. Hopefully, its a stage and he'll grow out of it soon.
Amelia is also doing well with her speech. When we started therapy we were concerned that her progress was going to be slow to start like Alex's, but she is doing well. She has already picked a number of words and really seems to be trying. She is growing like a weed. My mom calls her a one-woman wrecking crew - she is quite the handful and has the glimmer of trouble always in her eye. Usually, in my experiance anyway, kids just go and do what they are going to without looking back. Amelia on the other hand always has one eye on you to see if you are paying attention to what trouble she may be finding.
A couple of weeks ago we went to visit Miss Kathy as the kids call her. At her house she has a chicken coup with chickens and 2 roosters. The kids had a blast watching them and listening to the roosters. They were both constantly looking at us and saying 'you hear it? hear that?' Needless to say, despite the rain we had a really good time.
so cool mom!

Cute!!! :) :) We are coming up on the end of our deployment too - just around 2 months left. And then another year here and then??? It's actually kinda scary coming up on such a big unknown.
